Procedure for Admission to Master’s Programmes (PG Programmes)
The University shall admit students to the Master’s Programmes through an Entrance Test, hereinafter referred to as the Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET). The following procedures shall apply:
Eligibility for Admission:
(i) A candidate must have completed a recognized Bachelor’s degree (minimum 3 years) in the relevant subject or its equivalent with at least:
- 50% marks in aggregate for General candidates.
- 45% marks for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled categories.
(ii) Candidates awaiting final results may apply provisionally, provided the final results are submitted by the date of admission.
(iii) Candidates who have qualified national-level examinations such as CUET-PG (if applicable), GATE, or any equivalent recognized PG entrance may be exempted from PGET, subject to departmental recommendation and availability of seats.
Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET):
4.1 The PGET shall be of 2 hours duration and shall consist of 100 marks with 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) based on the syllabus of the corresponding UG course.
4.2 The qualifying marks shall be 50% for General category and 45% for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled candidates.
4.3 Candidates who qualify in the PGET (or are exempted) shall be called for counselling or departmental interaction for subject selection and verification of documents.
Final Selection and Admission:
6.1 Final selection shall be made on the basis of:
- Entrance Test score (50%)
- Academic Performance Index (50%) based on UG performance
Academic Index Calculation:
- 10 marks for UG candidates securing 75% and above
- 8 marks for 60% and above but below 75%
- 6 marks for less than 60%
6.2 Selected candidates shall be issued Admission Slips by the concerned Department and must pay the prescribed admission fee within the stipulated time.
6.3 Admission may be conducted twice a year, generally in July–August (Odd Semester) and January (Even Semester), depending on seat availability.
Procedure for Admission to Bachelor’s Programmes (UG Programmes)
The University shall admit students to the Bachelor’s Programmes through a University Entrance Test, known as the Undergraduate Qualifying Entrance Test (UQET) or through CUET-UG (if applicable and adopted by the University).
Eligibility Criteria:
(i) A candidate must have passed the 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent examination from a recognized board with the following minimum marks:
- 50% for General category
- 45% for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled
(ii) Candidates from vocational and open schooling streams may be considered as per UGC norms and University policy.
Undergraduate Entrance Test (UQET):
4.1 The UQET shall be of 90 minutes duration with 50 MCQs from relevant subjects based on the 10+2 syllabus.
4.2 The qualifying marks are 50% for General and 45% for reserved category candidates.
4.3 The final selection shall be on the basis of:
- UQET Score (60%)
- Academic Performance Index (40%)
Academic Index for 10+2 Marks:
- 10 marks for 85% and above
- 8 marks for 70%–84%
- 6 marks for 50%–69%
- 4 marks for below 50%
