Born on 11 April 1978, Dr. Atom Sunil Singh, completed B.A. (Honors) in Geography from D.M. College of Arts in Imphal. He then moved to New Delhi for postgraduate studies, completing an M.A. in Geography at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and subsequently an M.Phil. at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). He did M.Phil. from JNU which focused on the geopolitics of the Mekong Basin. Dr. Singh obtained his Ph.D. from JNU’s School of International Studies, with a dissertation titled “Geopolitics of Development in the Mekong Basin: A Case Study of Cambodia.” This doctoral work reflected his deepening interest in Southeast Asian development issues. 

He is specialized in geoinformatics with a post-graduate certificate in GIS from IGNOU and completed ISRO-sponsored courses on geospatial applications. He wrote huge numbers of articles, edited books, and presented, keynote addresses and delivered in many international conferences, seminars and workshops. As a part of his research, he has visited Myanmar, Thailand, China, Indonesia, Malayasia, Nepal, Hong Kong, Singapore.
